Data and AI Engineer – Barclays Location: Pune Job Type: Full-Time Overview: Barclays is hiring Data and AI Engineers to build scalable AI-driven and data-intensive solutions for enterprise banking platforms. The role focuses on machine learning, cloud technologies, large-scale data engineering, and AI application development to support next-generation financial systems and analytics platforms. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data and AI solutions • Build and optimize data pipelines and analytics platforms • Develop AI/ML and Generative AI applications for enterprise use cases • Work with cloud technologies and distributed systems • Implement ETL workflows and large-scale data processing solutions • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders • Develop APIs and backend services for AI-powered applications • Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability • Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of AI systems • Participate in Agile development and technical design discussions • Ensure secure, high-quality, and efficient software delivery Required Skills: • Strong programming skills in Python and related technologies • Knowledge of Machine Learning, AI, and data engineering concepts • Experience with AWS cloud services such as Lambda, Glue, S3, or Athena • Understanding of ETL processes and database systems • Familiarity with PySpark, SQL, and distributed data processing • Knowledge of APIs, software design, and backend engineering • Good analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills • Understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies Preferred Skills: • Experience with Generative AI, NLP, GPT, or RAG architectures • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and model deployment • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, or large-scale analytics systems • Knowledge of GitHub, CI/CD, and cloud-native development • Experience in financial services or banking technology environments • Strong communication and collaboration abilities About Company: Barclays is a global financial services and technology company providing banking, investment, and digital financial solutions across multiple countries.
